Every year the women of Delta Delta Delta across Canada and the
United States commemorate the very special founding of our sorority that took
place on Thanksgiving Eve of 1888.
Canada Alpha collegians and alumnae celebrated Founder’s Day this year on
November 23
rd at the University of Toronto’s Hart House.
This year marked my third Founder’s Day as a collegian and
every year I am still amazed by the remarkable array of women that have
dedicated themselves to upholding the values and principles that our founders, Sarah
Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcas Pond, placed upon Tridelta those many years ago. As I sat and ate my delicious three-course
meal I was surrounded by women of all generations, that I am proud to call my
sisters. Moments like this reaffirm the
truly special and unique bonds of Tridelta sisterhood.
Founder’s Day is an event that I believe is especially
wonderful because of the large numbers of alumnae that attend year after
year. I think it exemplifies how the
bonds of sisterhood go far beyond one’s time in chapter and extends into a
sister’s future. Whether you are an
active member or not, it is our time in Delta Delta Delta that binds us
all. Founder’s Day is a time where
members reflect on what it means to be a member and a time to be very proud of
all that has been accomplished by our sisters in the past and present, and
anticipate the great things that are to come.
