Sarah Atteck
My name is Sarah Atteck and I am entering my second year, recently admitted into the Rotman Commerce program, specializing in Management.
I decided to join a sorority because a friend I volunteered with told me she was in a sorority at McGill University. I did not realize Canada had sororities so I was overjoyed when I found out the university I chose, UofT, also had sororities! After going through recruitment, I knew Tri Delta was the place I belong in. The whole idea of sisterhood also appealed to me since I have only two brothers and always wanted a sister.
Joining Tri Delta was one of the best decisions I made in first year. The house was a place I felt welcome in this big overwhelming city, especially since I was a commuter from Whitby (I’ve recently moved into the house and I’m having a blast!) and the sorority was a mini community I was a part of in a large university with thousands of students. I made friends I know will last a lifetime and I had so much fun at all our events from our philanthropy (Spaghetti Night) to our Spring Formal to the wonderful retreat this summer.
Being a student at UofT you often find yourself lost or overwhelmed with stress and exams but ever since I joined Tri Delta, I have found that perfect balance between school and fun. Yes it is important to study and get good grades, but it is also important to have a great time, make lifelong friends, and make a difference in your community. University is supposed to be some of the best four years of your life, and joining a sorority is the way to do it!
